From the nineteenth century, most Czech and Moravian foundries took to producing funerary cast iron – such as tombstone crosses, plaques, grilles and bars for tombs, and sculptures.  These products profoundly impacted the appearance of cemeteries, with crucifixes appearing in rural areas and beyond. Small religious objects were intended for display indoors. This crucifix is believed to have been produced by Komárov Iron Works included modeller and sculptor Dominik Zafouk.
